A VARIETY OF CLASSES TO

Satisfy Yoga Tastes

Your body, mind, and spirit have different needs from day-to-day. Do you crave flowing and burning some energy, moving slowly and mindfully, or being quiet and meditative? Are you a brand new beginner, an experienced yogi, or maybe someone who just needs some time for themselves? Sattva Yoga offers a wide variety of classes to honor what you need and where you are in your yoga journey.

ALL LEVELS FLOW

This class focuses on breath-to-movement and alignment cues to ensure a safe practice for all practitioners. Poses are thoughtfully sequenced in fun and creative ways to move you safely and progressively from less complex to more complex postures, typically culminating in a “peak pose.” Many suggestions of possible modifications are offered to address the various experience levels in the class. The primary focus here is your breath and its connection to the physical practice of asana in order to bring depth and evolution to your practice. Each teacher brings their unique style to the class. (Brand new beginners will benefit from Foundations/Beginner’s Yoga prior to attending All Levels Flow.)

SUNRISE VINYASA

Start your morning out right with this alignment-based vinyasa practice as you create heat, find balance, and build strength. This breath-guided practice will energize you and prepare you for your day. (Brand new beginners will benefit from a Foundations/Beginner’s Yoga prior to attending flow.)

MELLOW FLOW

Craving a slow movement at a relaxed pace? Mellow Flow is for those days that you want to cultivate awareness of movement and breath at a slow, steady pace. The class focuses on mindful breath and movement as well as postural alignment cues in order to encourage mindfulness and embodiment of postures. Mellow Flow is a good option for newer yoga practitioners ready to explore beyond Foundations/Beginner’s Yoga or the Beginner’s Series.

SHAKTI FLOW

The fascial lines of the body are like the mycelial network of the forest. It weaves itself throughout the body, supporting and connecting muscles to muscles, skin to muscles and muscles to bone and ligament. When these lines get bundled or brittle, we feel tension and pain. This can happen from trauma, emotional stress, or repetitive movement.
This yoga practice supports moving from familiar Hatha yoga poses to other familiar Hatha yoga poses in order to glide these fascial lines across each other, shearing off and smoothing out fascial adhesions. This style of yoga is “sneaky.” It feels easy and smooth during the practice. You may even feel like you are not “working hard enough” or going “deep enough.” But this practice will leave your body feeling open and relaxed, as if you’ve just gotten deep muscle massage or a chiropractic adjustment.
During this class, you will also get to experiment with your own body’s needs and proportions, finding your flow and improving your internal awareness. This is an all-levels class.

RESTORATIVE FLOW

Restorative flow is a nurturing practice that involves slow, breath-centered movement followed by long-held stretches and numerous hand-ons enhancements. Each class is geared to what the students need for their bodies that day. The class is perfect for all levels and for those who are stiff or sore or need some calming stress relief.

RESTORATIVE

This is a delicious and deeply relaxing practice of supported poses utilizing bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps to fully support the body. It may include guided relaxation and yogic breathing and always involves an extended savasana, or final resting pose. This meditative practice is designed to give your mind and body a mini vacation. The class is done entirely on the floor, and each posture is held passively for several minutes, giving your nervous system a needed break. For any level student seeking to reduce and counter the effects of stress on the mind and body.

FOUNDATIONS/BEGINNER’S YOGA

This class provides a safe, slow and easy introduction to the yoga practice where we will cover the basics of breathing and yoga postures. This class is designed for people brand new to yoga, those re-entering their yoga practice, or those desiring a slower practice that emphasizes alignment. This is a well-rounded class with time to work the details and to learn great habits and fix not-so-helpful ones.

PRIVATE YOGA

Private yoga lessons are the perfect way to individualize and customize your yoga practice and make it ideal for your body and mind. They are a great way to work through an injury, learn proper alignment and how to prevent injuries, achieve advanced poses, or simply to create a yoga routine that will perfectly match your capacity and your goals. They are also great for beginners who would like to learn the basics and feel more confident attending group classes. Private lessons can be set up as a one-time class or on an on-going basis. These one-on-one sessions are an excellent way for students of all levels to fine-tune their yoga practice.

MOVE • BREATHE • HEAL

Move • Breathe • Heal begins with 30 minutes of a gentle flow practice to help students connect to the present moment by tapping into their bodies. This is followed by 10 minutes of pranayama (breathing exercises) & meditation. Finally, the class finishes with a 20-minute immersion into Self with the soothing, healing sounds of crystal bowls while students relax in savasana. The crystal bowls create a backdrop of peace and tranquility to enhance the savasana experience.

YIN YOGA

Yin yoga is the sister to the more active vinyasa or Yang yoga practices. Its benefits include increased flexibility, reduced stress, and better sleep. Practiced almost entirely on the floor with plenty of props, Yin’s mindful, longer holds work deeply into the body and target our connective tissues, especially the deep fascial networks. Yin Yoga is a quiet, contemplative practice. All levels.

ZUMBA

Perfect for everybody and every body! An energizing dance fitness class featuring Latin and International music. Exercise in disguise! We take the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. You’ll burn lots of calories and have a great time doing it!

SATTVA STRENGTH AND STRETCH

This class is designed to strengthen your body using your own body weight through a wide variety of exercises. We’ll hit major muscle groups every class as well as some minor ones. The last portion of the class stretches all the body parts you just worked. Appropriate for all fitness levels.

Sattva Book Group
Untamed by Glennon Doyle

It’s time for book group at Sattva again! We have contracted the schedule to meet three weeks in a row.

Week 1: Part One – Part Three through “Terms”

Week 2: Part Three “Erikas” – “Permission Slips”

Week 3: Part Three “Concessions” – Epilogue

About the Book (Description from Amazon):

Untamed is both an intimate memoir and a galvanizing wake-up call. It is the story of how one woman learned that a responsible mother is not one who slowly dies for her children, but one who shows them how to fully live. It is the story of navigating divorce, forming a new blended family, and discovering that the brokenness or wholeness of a family depends not on its structure but on each member’s ability to bring her full self to the table. And it is the story of how each of us can begin to trust ourselves enough to set boundaries, honor our anger and heartbreak, and unleash our truest, wildest instincts.
